The petition of Thomas Venables of Middlewich, Cheshire, Michaelmas 1663

To the Right hono[ura]ble and Right Wo[rshi]p[fu]ll his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace for the County Palatine of Chester

The humble petic[i]on of Thomas Venables of Midlewich

Sheweth

That yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r hath served in the late vnhappy warres as a Faithfull souldier and Loyall subiect vnder the Com[m]and of Capt[ain] Robert Werdin in a Foot Company in Chester And served there vntill the Cittie was deliu[er]ed to Sir William Brereton And had his wife shott and slayne there And eu[e]r since hath Continued his loyalty and allegiance Faithfully to his Ma[jes]tie duringe all the {late times of} rebellion besides his great sufferinge by imprisonm[en]t and otherwayes to the [utt]er undoeinge of him his wife and many small Children. And hath not Complied with any the late vsurped powers.

Yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r therefore humbly prayes that hee may by yo[u]r order bee admitted pension[e]r vpon the County And that hee may receiue such an Annuall sum[m]e and pension for the reliefe of him his wife and many small Children As you in yo[u]r wisdomes shall thinke meet And yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r as in duty bound will eu[e]r pray &c
