The petition of Thomas Vaughan of Ysbyty Ifan, Denbighshire, May 1660

To the Kings most Excellent Ma[jes]tie

The humble Petic[i]on of Thomas Vaughan Esq[uire]

Humbly sheweth

That Captaine Henry Vaughan ye pet[itione]rs father raised a Companie, and kept them diuers years at his owne charge in yo[u]r Ma[jes]ties fathers service, and was slaine by scaling Hopton Castle in the county of Salopp whereby yo[u]r pet[itione]r was not only bereaved of his deare father, and his brothers and sisters left Orphants, but allso hath suffered much in his estate by reason of his fathers debts, Contracted in the said service To secure himselfe from w[hi]ch yo[u]r pet[itione]r was forced to w[i]thdrawe out of his Native Countrey into the partes beyond the Seas.

Yo[u]r Pet[itione]r therefore humbly prayeth that yo[u]r Ma[jes]tie will be pleased out of yo[u]r Royall bounty to admitt yo[u]r Pet[itione]r to bee one of yo[u]r Ma[jes]ties Groomes of yo[u]r privy Chamber.

And yo[u]r pet[itione]r shall ever pray &c.
