The petition of Thomas Snelson of Swettenham, Cheshire, Easter 1658

To the Right wor[shipfu]ll the justices of the Peace at the Quarter Sessions held at Midlew[ic]h in the County of Chester
The Humble Petic[i]on of Thomas Snelson of Swettenham
Sheweth
That yo[u]r Petic[i]oner was borne and hath Liued in Swettenham aforesaid for the space of 35 yeares and vpwards and that hee was a Trained Souldier in the Parliam[en]ts Service from the begining of the late warrs vnder the Comand of Colonell Venables vntill Chester was Reduced That he hath a wife and Fower small Children, And the howse wherein hee hath Lived for many yeares Last past beinge now otherwise Disposed of and noe other howse in the said Towne to be taken for money he is at present Destitute of an habitac[i]on That yo[u]r petic[i]oner hath obtained the Consent of the Cheife Lord for Erecting a Cottage vpon the wast w[i]thin the said Towne[shi]pp for an habitac[i]on and Succour of himselfe his wife and Children
The pr[e]misses Considered yo[u]r Pet[itione]r humbly prayes that he may haue the order of this wor[shipfu]ll Bench for the Erecting of the said Cottage according to Lawe
And yo[u]r Petic[i]oner shall ever Pray &c
