The petition of Thomas Rowlinson of Halton, Cheshire, Trinity 1646

To the Hon[our]able the deputie Leife[tenan]ts at Knotsford:
The humble petic[i]on of Thomas Rowlinson of Halton in this Countie.
Humbly Sheweth
That yo[u]r petic[i]oner liueing in Warington in the beginning of these warrs gott his liueing for himselfe his wife and Children by his trade and handyworke. And being not able to endure to liue vnder the protection of the Array whom hee iudged enemies to the Gospell of Christ, hee fled from Warington leaveing his Family and all hee had to their mercy. That besides his service in Lancashire, hee hath served vnder the command of L[eiutenan]t Collonell Brooke three yeares and vpwards And hath lose the vse of his hands in the said service in Fight w[i]th the enemy. Thereby himselfe his wiefe and family being vtterly vndone without yo[u]r Noble Favour. Being alsoe verie farr in Arreares of pay as will easily Appeare vppon Account.
May it therefore please y[ou]r Honors to take y[ou]r petic[i]oners estate into y[ou]r most Charitable consierac[i]on and to Appoint him some Maintenance and meanes of Livelihood towards the releefe of himselfe and Familie that soe they may not bee turned vppon the devotion of the Countrey. And y[ou]r petic[i]oner and all his as in dutye euer bound shall pray for gods blessings vppon you and all yo[u]r godly designes.
Mr Hobin looke into yo[u]r booke & see w[hic]h Pentioners are dead that I may haue the bearer hereof entered into a good place.
