The petition of Thomas Reede of Dartington, Devon, 1664
To the hono[ou]r[a]ble his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the Peace assembled att the Castle of Exon, and for the County of Devon.
The humble petic[i]on of Thomas Reede late of Dartington in the County aforesayd.
Sheweth
Vnto yo[u]r hono[u]rs that yo[u]r poore Peticon[e]r being a Souldier in the Service of his late Ma[jes]tie of ever blessed Memory vnder the Com[m]and of Captayne Wanckleyn in the Regim[en]t of the right wor[shipfu]ll and truly Loyall S[ir] Edward Seymour Barronett, And was att the takinge of Dartmouth Towne, and was alsoe in the Seiges against Plymouth and Taunton, And by reason of the same service he hath altogeather disabled himselfe and made himselfe vncapable to gett his livelyhood by his labour.
Therefore yo[u]r Petic[i]oner humbly craves the favor of this hono[u]r[a]ble Bench that they wil be pleased to order him some releife accordinge to yo[u]r hono[u]rs wonted Compassion to p[er]sons in his sad Condic[i]on and necessity And yo[u]r Peticon[e]r shall dayly pray for yo[u]r hono[u]rs &c.
<I know the contents of this petition to be very iust, and recom[m]end the peticioner as A person very well deseruing to receaue the charitable fauor of this Hon[oura]ble Bench>
