The petition of Thomas Parker of Alpraham, Cheshire, Trinity 1662

To the Ho[noura]ble the Justices of the Peace in the County Palatine of Chester

The humble Petic[i]on of Thomas Parker of Alperam

<Sheweth>

That yo[u]r poore pet[itioner] at the beginninge of the late wars was inlisted as a private souldier in the Troope of Richard Walthall Esq[ui]r[e] Captaine in the Regiment of Colonell John Marrowe in the service of his Ma[jes]ties father that now is of euer blessed and glorious memory in w[hi]ch service and Euer since hath binne fathfull and Loyall according to his imploym[en]t, and that by reason thereof yo[u]r poore Petic[i]on[e]rs Estate was by the rebellious party sequestred and had not gods providence intervened [illegible] hee and his poore family had bin vtterly ruined afterwardes hee was taken prisoner at Mountgory [sic.] Fight and brought to Namptw[i]ch where hee remained in the Common prison in a sad and Languishinge condic[i]on by the space of eightene weekes att the end of w[hi]ch time hee was constrayned to p[ro]cure eight poundes w[hi]ch hee payed for his inlargm[en]t and beinge informed that his Ma[jes]tie hath bin pleased by Act of Parliam[en]t to p[ro]porc[i]on and allow some releife to those who haue binne faithfull and loyall and alsoe yo[u]r Pet[itioner] being very Indigent

Therefore

Hee humbly prayes that yo[u]r hon[ou]rs will bee pleased to take his sad condic[i]on and sufferinges into yo[u]r serious considerac[i]ons and to allow to him such an yearely penc[i]on towardes his pr[e]sent releife as yo[u]r hono[u]rs shall thinke fit

And as in duty bound hee will euer pray for yo[u]r hon[ou]rs happines.
