To the Right wor[shipfu]ll his ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace for the County Palatine of Chester at there Generall Quarter Sessions houlden at Chester the {illegible} day of January 1671

The Humble Petic[i]on of Thomas Newton of Astle in the Countie of Chester aforesaid Carppentter:

<Humbly Sheweth>

That whereas yo[u]r said pettic[i]oner hath beene a great sufferer in the Late warrs of our Late gratious Soveraigne King Charles the first of Blessed Memory in w[hi]ch warrs he served vnder the comaund of Mr John Legh of Adlington And in the said warr Lost his Eye. The said Loss of his Eye being Likely to become pr[e]juditiall to him in Relac[i]on to his trade.

Prayeth therefore in all humbleness that yo[u]r wor[shi]pps wil be pleased to take the pr[e]misses into yo[u]r worthie considerac[i]ons, And admitt him to become a Pensioner.

And as in bounden Duty he will Eu[er] pray &c.
