To the Wor[shi]p[fu]ll Judge of ye Sessions &c and to the Rest of his Maj[est]ies Justices of the Peace for ye County of Devon w[hi]ch are now Assembled at the Castle of Exon &c

The humble Petic[i]on of Thomas Jope of Westmorchard in ye County of Devon Mason

<Sheweth> That yo[u]r peticon[e]r was Prest in his Maj[es]tes Service King Charles ye first of Blesed memory And did Serve in S[i]r John Acklands Regement of Foote under the Command of Captaine James Austaine Two yeares in the Leg[u]e of Plymouth and other where And in that Service Received Some Wounds to the Damage of his Bodily Abillity And After that yo[u]r peticon[e]r served under Captaine Bragstone who commanded A Troop of horse untill the very last Sessation of Armes in Cornwall at Miles borrow

Yo[u]r peticon[e]r is Threescore and Five yeares of age and not able to gett a livelyhood Therefore yo[u]r poore peticon[e]r doth humbley request and desire yo[u]r Wor[shi]ps for ye yearely or Common Pencion And yo[u]r peticon[e]r shall ever pray &c.
