The petition of Thomas Jones, Cheshire, Easter 1654

To the wor[shi]p[fu]ll the Justices of peace for the County of Chester at Middlewich.
The humble petic[i]on of Thomas Jones
Sheweth
That yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r was formerly enroled amongst the penc[i]on[e]rs maimed in the Parliam[en]t Service and received his penc[i]on quarterly by virtue of an Order from this hon[ou]rable Bench vntill a report was very jnjuriosly [sic.] raised; that yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r was as able to spend 12 d. in ye alehouse as any of his neighbours; which is not onely most false but [illegible] tends much to yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]rs Losse in regard his penc[i]on is therevpon withdrawne Though those yt raised the said report haue synce denyed the same
Yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r humbly prayes That it may please yo[u]r hono[u]rs to revive his said order that hee may receiue his penc[i]on as aforesaid for the releife of himselfe & family without [illegible] which hee is likely to bee exposed to great want
and hee will ever pray &c
