To the worshipfull the Justices of the peace in the County of Devon:

The humble petition of Thomas Johnslin of Colompton in the same County

Humbly sheweth

That your Petitioner was in the service of our late Martyr[e]d Soveraigne Charles the First under the Command of the Honourable John Buller Col[onel], Roger May Major, John Reed Capt[ain] in which service your petitioner received severall wounds, and beeinge now reduced to greate poverty and want Humbly entreateth your worships to assigne him some Pension for his more comfortable support and livelyhood, for w[hi]ch

y[ou]r poore Petitioner shall ever pray (as hee is in duty bound) for encrease of Honour and Prosperity to our Soveraigne and your worships Peace and wellfare.
