The petition of Thomas Jackson of Aston, Cheshire, Epiphany 1663

To the right Wor[shipfu]ll the justices of the Peace in their Gen[er]all Quarter Sessions for the Peace within the Countie Palatine of Chester
The humble Petic[i]on of Thomas Jackson of Aston next Halton in ye said Countie
Humbly sheweth
That yo[u]r poore Petic[i]on[e]r served as a Troop[er] vnder the Com[m]and of the right Wor[shipfu]ll S[i]r Thomas Aston, in his late Ma[jes]ties service of ever blessed memory, for the space of foure yeares and vpwards in severall fights and in many hardshipps by reason whereof yo[u]r poore petic[i]on[e]r is quite disabled to get a livelyhood for himselfe and family by whose labour and no otherwise they should have maintenance, and must inevitably p[er]ish w[i]thout yo[u]r tender considerac[i]o[n] of the pr[e]misses
May it therefore please yo[u]r wor[shi]pps to grant vnto yo[u]r poore petic[i]on[e]r a yearly pension [illegible] for the releife of himselfe and family, and as a recompense of your poore petic[i]on[e]rs said faithfull service.
And yo[u]r poore petic[i]on[e]r will ever pray &c
