The petition of Thomas Hilton of Brindle, Lancashire, 17 January 1676
To the right worshipfill his ma[jes]ties Justice of peace and Quor[um] at the Generall Quarter ssessions [sic.] at Wigan there houlden for the Hundred of Darby and Leyland these January 17th Anno dom[ini] 1675
<Humbly> sheweth That your poore petitioner Thomas Hilton of Brindle in the County of Lancast[e]r Labour[e]r hath for his Loyalty to his ma[jes]tie of famous memory suffered great losses in his estate and being A souldier vnder the Command of Sir Thomas Tyldsley was in A schirmige neare Chester shot with A bullet into the shoulder which bullet is yet remaineing in his brest and alsoe hath his legge broaken with severall other wounds receiued in his said ma[jes]ties service to his great detriment And very sore impoverished there by Humbly desires this honnorable Court to take his deplorable Condition into your worships serious considerations And to advance his pension allowed by his ma[jes]tie to all such lamed and indigent souldiers And your poore petition[e]r as in duty bound will ever pray and soe humbly leave
Wee whose names are herevnder subscribed doe Humbly make bould to Certifie that your petitioner is in A very weake Condition and wee doe verily beleiue And conceave that his petition is true and honest as farre as wee can vnder stand
