The petition of Thomas Feild of Towcester, Northamptonshire, October 1683

To the Right worshipfull S[i]r Roger Norwich Barron[e]t & to the Rest of the worshipfull Bench
The humble pettion of Thomas Feild {illegible}
Humbly sheweth that your pettioner
{W}orthy Gentlemen your poore petticoner served his m{ost} sacred Majestie of euer blessed memmorie from Edghill Fight vntill Oxfford was surrendered in Captaine Slaynies Troope in ye Redgament of ye Right Honorable ye Earle of Northampton: after ye Restoareation of our gratious Sovaraigne I produced ye discharge I had att ye surrendering of Oxfford att ye Genarall quarter sessions att Northampton with a pettishon where vpon I had a penshon granted me & receiued itt euery quarter session for some yeares but haueing some enimies yt informed Against me I amongst others was put of & haue had noe penshon since. But I now being very weake & lame all of my left side am in a weake & poore Condition. The Doctors oppinion is ye wounds I rec[eiv]ed att Cropreddy fight neare Banburie is ye Cause of my lamenese: being ye same side I was wounded on att Cropredy Fight.
I neuer deserted his Majesties servis tho dismounted wounded & put to many hardships till Oxfford was surrendered as is certiefied by seuerall Gentlemen vnder theire hands to my petticon. which petticon & discharge was burnt att ye fire in Towcester amongst other my goods. Y[ou]r poore petishoner humbly Craueth y[ou]r Com[m]iseration & assistant in this my poore weake & lame Condition. & I shall for euer bee {bound} to pray for y[ou]r health & wellfare in this world & your Eternall happieness in ye world to com dureing ye life of y[ou]r most Humble servant
