The petition of Thomas Ezard of Ramsbury, Wiltshire, 2 October 1666

Yo[u]r humble petic[i]on[e]r Thomas Ezard to the Right worshipfull Justice of the peace at the Generall and open Quarter seshc[i]ons of the Peace holden at Marlburo[ugh] on the second day of octob[e]r Annoq[ue] dom[ini] 1666
Wee whose names are here vnder written doe well rememb[e]r when y[ou]r humble petic[i]on[e]r Thomas Ezard was Listed vnder the Command of Captaine Winssor in the Right hon[ou]rable the Lord Garrets Regement in the yeare of our Lord 1643 or in 1644 and Continued A Faithfull soldier in his Ma[jes]t[y’]s service of ever Blessed memory vntell the wars was ended by reson of which service yo[u]r humble petic[i]on[e]r wass disabl soe much disabled with dangerus wounds and blows that hee is in no wisse able to subsist for his livelywhod therfore yo[u]r humble petic[i]on[e]r doth humbly bege of all yo[u]r worships That Care might be taken for sutch a penc[i]on as y[ou]r worships shall thinje fitte for I am not able to yearne my owne livinge yo[u]r humble petic[i]on[e]r was listed vnder the Command as a foresaid in Remsbury in the County of Wilts[hire] and soe I shall rest yo[u]r humble petic[i]on[e]r praying for all yo[u]r good helthes

Likewise your humble petic[i]on[e]r was proff[e]r 7 pound and a horse to goe to Wooester fite but rather then he would take Armes againtst [sic.] his mai[es]t[y] he would badge his bread
