The petition of Thomas Edingburgh of Aynho, Northamptonshire, October 1668

To the Wor[shi]pfull his Ma[jes]ties Justices of Peace sittinge att the Castle of North[amp]ton.

The Humble Petic[i]on of Thomas Edingburgh of Aynhoe in the Countie of North[amp]ton[shire] labourer.

Sheweth

That your Petic[i]oner was a Souldier in the late Warres vnder the Com[m]and of S[i]r William Compton and served his late Ma[jes]ties dureinge most part of the said Warres very faithfully and was much wonded and lamed in his limbes and scarce able to  worke, and beinge now growen old and haveinge a wife and foure small Children is not able to by reason of his age and lameles to maintaine himselfe and family w[i]thout releife;

Your Petic[i]oner therefore humbly prayes that your wor[shi]ps would seriously consider his sad Condic[i]on, and continue his Penc[i]on of three pounds p[er] ann[um] or some other form yearely penc[i]on as your Wor[shi]ps shall thinke fitt

And your petic[i]oner shall daily pray &c

Theis are to certifie all whome it may concerne that we the Inhabitants of Aynhoe whose names are subscribed doe iudge your Petic[i]oner to be an obiect of Charity and a very fitt p[er]son to receive a penc[i]on
