The petition of Thomas Brice of Stockton, Wiltshire, 16 July 1661

To the wo[rshipfu]ll the Kings Ma[jes]t[y’]s Justices of the peace for the Countie of Wiltes[hire] assem[bled] at Warminster the 16th day of July at the gen[er]all Quar[te]r Sessions of the peace there holden
The humble petic[i]on of Tho[mas] Brice of Stockton in this Countie Carpenter
Humbly sheweth onto yo[u]r wor[shi]ps that yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r hath bin for many yeare a Reall & faithfull Subiect & Souldier for the King, first vnder My Lord Arrundell, Secondly vnder S[i]r Will[iam] Courtney three yeares at many fights, at two fights at Newbery, one at Banbery & at the Earle of Essex rought in Cornewell w[i]th other & was shot through the Knee in the Service at Lamport fight who was robd of Tenn pounds & Suffered Imprissonment by Charle [sic.] Buckler of this towne of Warminster
Yo[u]r petic[i]oner humbly desireth yo[u]r good wor[shi]pps to shew him such favoure herein as to others vpon the like occac[i]on haue bin showen & as dutie binedeth hym he shall ever pray &c
