The petition of Thomas Box of Tawstock, Devon, 5 October 1675

To the hono[ura]ble his Ma[jes]t[ie]s Justices of Peace at the Gennerall Sessions of the peace holden at the Castle of Exon there holden the Fifth of October 1675.
The Humble peticon of Captayne Thomas Box Captayne vnder the Com[m]and of S[i]r John Berkeley Kn[igh]t
Humbly Sheweth that yo[u]r petic[i]oner being now altogeather vnable by meanes of Hurts and preiudice receaved in the late vnhappie warr in his ma[jes]ties service to Susteyne himself haueing noe Estate to support him being now in the 68 yere of his age neither hath any place of Benifitt bestowed vpon him and therefore humbly pray this hono[ura]ble Bench to Comisserat his deplorable Estate and graciate vnto yo[u]r peticioner such yerely Penc[i]on and yerely pay as this Hono[ura]ble Court shall think meet and Convenyent according to his Ma[jes]t[y’]s most Gratious Act of p[ar]liament wherby his future lef may be susteyned and he able to praise his god and serve his king in truth and sencerity and your peticoner shall dayly pray &c
