The petition of Thomas Bott of Morton Bagot, Warwickshire, undated

To the Right hono[ura]ble & Right Worshipfull his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the Peace for the County of Warwick.
The humble Petic[i]on of Thomas Bott of Moreton Baggott Laborer.
<Sheweth.>
That yo[u]r Peticon[e]r was, according to the vtmost of his Loyalty and power actually in service a Soldier for his Late Ma[jes]tie vnder Com[m]aund of the Right Wor[shi]pfull S[i]r John Knottisford for the space of three yeares and vpwards in w[hi]ch service he receaved a shott in his shoulder and sev[er]all other wounds By reason of w[hi]ch and much Lying vpon the Could ground hath gott such a weaknesse in his limbs that h yo[u]r Peticon[e]r is not able to Labor as Formerly; And Further sheweth vnto yo[u]r worshipps that yo[u]r pet[itione]r was a Prisoner a greate while at Warwick Castle to his great p[re]iudice, And by reason of the then distracc[i]on & vnhappy times, was deprived & still is of any manner of recompence or reward, in w[hi]ch said service he behaved himselfe Faithfully & honestly vntill Worcester was yeilded, The Truth of all w[hi]ch is well knowne to his Neighbourhood who in Testimony thereof have subscribed.
Yo[u]r Peticon[e]rs humble suite to yo[u]r wor[shi]pps therefore is that you wil be pleased to take into Considerac[i]on his sadd Condic[i]on that yo[u]r Peticon[e]r may have some allowance or Penc[i]on towards the support & Maintenance of himselfe his wife and Children & do therein as in yo[u]r wisedomes shall think Fitt And yo[u]r Peticon[e]r shall ever pray for yo[u]r wor[shi]pps
