The petition of Thomas Aspinwall of Upholland, Lancashire, Midsummer 1659

To the Right wor[shipfu]ll maior Jo[hn] Foxe & the rest of this Wor[shipfu]ll Bench:
The humble pet[ition] of Thomas Aspinwall borne and bredd in the Town[shi]pp of Holland in the pa[ri]sh of Wiggan &c
Aged 67 & vpwards White Smyth
Humbly sheweth
that your pet[itioner] growing aged and altogether vnable to releiue himselfe from extreme pe[ri]shing but by help of his good neighbours: who hath form[e]rly liued and followed the Trade of a Spurrier and serued the States of this Comonwealth for the space of 7 yeares as shall appeare vpon Certificate and neuer chargeable at all to the s[ai]d p[ar]ish or else wher – and is sore troubled of a disease in his legg.
The premises Considered:
The pet[itioner] humbly prayeth your wor[shi]pps to take into Considerac[i]on this his great necessity and to grant such Order to the Churchwardens & Ouerseers of the said parrische & as in your discrec[i]ons shal be Thought Fit & as in duty bound hee will euer pray &c.
