The petition of the widows, maimed soldiers, and orphans of Mottram, Cheshire, Trinity 1657

To the Right Wor[shi]pp[fu]ll the Justices of Peace and Quorum within the County of Chester.
The Humble petition of widow Heape widow Wagstaffe widdow Woolley widow Bradley widdow Booth Widdow Kinder Thomas Bredbury Gerrard Collier & Ellis Collier, penc[i]on[e]rs within the p[ar]ish of Mottram in Longendale; Humbly Sheweth
That yo[u]r poore peticion[e]rs vpon theire peticion formerly preferred vnto yo[u]r wor[shi]pps had the sume of Twenty shillings a peice ordered to be payde out of the treasury for maimed soldiers since which tyme yo[u]r said petition[e]rs haue beene put vpon greate travell and charges for the obteyneinge thereof; & cannot yett obteyne a greate p[ar]te of the same to the greate damage of yo[u]r peticion[e]rs the Clarke of treasury giveinge vs noe satisfac[i]on why the same is neglected & deteyned
May it please therefore yo[u]r good wor[shi]pps to Examin the reason of the neglect theireof & that yo[u]r wor[shi]ps would be please to take such course as yo[u]r peticion[e]rs may forthwith receive theire said pencions already in areare and for the future may be prevented from such greate travell & Charges in lookinge after the same as yo[u]r peticion[e]rs haue beene putt vpon & yo[u]r peticion[e]rs shall pray &c
