The petition of the soldiers and widows of Knutsford, Cheshire, Epiphany 1652

To the right ho[noura]ble the Justices of the peace assembled at Nether Knuptsford for holding of the Quarter sessions for this Countye
The petic[i]on of Edward Grange W[illia]m Grange John Billington John Higginson Edward [?Cruther] & Robert Marsh of Knuptsford afforesayd labourers together with Eme Darbishyre Margaret Aucus & Amye Bollington of the sayd towne widowes.
Sheweth to yo[u]r hono[u]rs that yo[u]r petic[ioners] (and petic[ioners’] husbands who were slayne at Worcester) beinge hyred to goe to Worcester by the Inhabitants of the towne of Knuptsford aforesayd the sayd towne is twentye eight shillings a peece vnpayde to each of yo[u]r petic[ioners] vpon agreement betwixt yo[u]r petic[ioners] & the sayd Inhabitants which the sayd Inhabitants will not pay to yo[u]r petic[ioners] vnles yo[u]r hono[u]rs favo[u]rs bee shewed to yo[u]r petic[ioners] herein
May it therefore please yo[u]r hono[u]rs to order the said Inhabitants to pay to yo[u]r petic[ioners] the sayd twentye eight shillings arreare to each of them vpon their agreem[en]t with the sayd Inhabitants And yo[u]r petic[ioners] as in duty bound shall pray &c
