The petition of the maimed soldiers and widows of Northwich Hundred, Cheshire, Easter 1651

To the right ho[noura]ble the deputy lieftenants & other the keep[er]s of the peace their assistants assembled at Middlewich for the holding of the Quarter sessions for this County.

The petic[i]on of the maymed soldyers & widowes of the hundred of Northwich

Sheweth to yo[u]r honors that yo[u]r pet[itione[r]s beinge by order from yo[u]r honors to receive moneyes for their releefe euery quarter of the yeare from the treasurer for the sayd hundred. Soe it is may it please yo[u]r honors that Maior Buckley being by yo[u]r honors made treasurer for the sayd hundred will not pay yo[u]r petic[ioners] but puts them off from tyme to tyme to their great expence losse & trouble soe that yo[u]r petic[ioners] are likely to vndergoe much hardship for lacke of their sayd payments & to bee preuented & continually disappoynted of the same money of yo[u]r petic[ioners] not receiving any in a whole yeare vnles yo[u]r honors favor bee shewed to yo[u]r petic[ioners] therein.

May it therefore please yo[u]r honors to order that yo[u]r petic[ioners] may bee payd for with what is due to them [illegible] by yo[u]r honors orders by the sayd Major Buckley or els to appoynt some other treasurer that will bee carefull to p[er]forme the trust in him reposed in satisfying yo[u]r pet[itioners] what is due to them And yo[u]r petic[ioners] as in duty bound shall pray for yo[u]r honors in health & all happines long to continue.

<ordered that Maior Bulkley make his Account to Mr Stanley & Mr Bradshaw of Marple & if any Money doe remayne in his hand to pay>
