The petition of Susan Turner of Fishwick, Lancashire, 26 April 1655

To the wor[shi]p[fu]l the Justices of the peace att the gen[e]rall session of the peace held att Preston the 26th day of Aprill 1655
The petic[i]on of Susan Turner in the behalfe of herselfe & her two small Children.
Sheweth That James Turner yo[u]r pet[itione]rs husband (by whom yo[u]r pet[itione]r hadd the said two Children) was seized for the terme of his life of a mesuage & tenem[en]te w[i]th th’appurtenn[ance]s in Fishwick and that some five yeares sithence & vpwards yo[u]r pet[itione]rs said husband was pressed for the said towneshipp vpon the last expedic[i]on for Ireland. And yo[u]r pet[itione]r saith that ye officers of the Lord Mollyneux hath taken from yo[u]r pet[itione]r all the lands belongeing to the said tenem[en]te affirmeing yo[u]r pet[itione]rs said husband to bee dead in Ireland soe as yo[u]r pet[itione]r & her two poore Children are likely to p[er]ish vnles some order for provision of mantenance bee made by yo[u]r wor[shi]pes.
The pr[e]misses considered and in regard her said husband was then imployed for the Com[m]on wealth of England yo[u]r pet[itione]r humbly prayeth an order for provision of manteynance in this behalfe either out of the said tenem[en]te or forth of the said Towneshipp of Fishwick and yo[u]r pet[itione]r shall dayly pray for yo[u]r wor[shi]ps.
Ch[urchwardens] & Ou[erseers] to relee[ve] vntill they doe shew the she beeing interest in a third p[ar]t of the [?liveing] dureing her life then to tax the third p[ar]t
