The petition of Stephen Aldridge and Edward Ammerton, Staffordshire, July 1649
To the hono[ura]ble & right wor[shipfu]ll ye Justices of the Peace for this County of Staff[or]d:
The humble petic[i]on of Steph[en] Aldridge & Edw[ard] Ammerton late Soldiers vnder ye Com[m]and of Tho[mas] Moncke.
Sheweth that your pet[itione]rs haue beene in ye Parliam[en]ts und seruice vnder ye command aforesaid for ye space of 20 moneths, in w[hi]ch tyme the[y] respectively and obediently behaued themselues. But at Disbanding were much in arreares, though they had suffered many wounds & maymes, to the disenabling of them to a future service, or any other labours, whereby to giue to themselves any manner of support for their livelyhood:
Therefore humbly pray the p[re]misses considered, that yo[u]r pet[itione]rs may haue order to receiue an vsuall pension as is now & hath beene form[e]rly allowed to maymed Soldiers.
And yo[u]r pet[itione]rs shall euer pray for yo[u]r hono[u]rs much happiness
not ord[ered] X not ord[ered]
