The petition of Sarah Price of Tiverton, Cheshire, Trinity 1662

To the Ho[noura]ble the Justices of the Peace of the county of Chester:-
The humble Petic[i]on of Sarah Price of Tiverton
<Sheweth>
That yo[u]r poore pet[itione]rs husband George Price of Tiverton was in the beginninge of the late warrs inlisted private souldier in the foote company of Captaine Robert Horton vnder the Com[m]and of Robert Lord Viscount Cholmondeley afterwardes hee was vnder the com[m]and of Colonel Vallet Governour of the Garrison of Beeston Castle on the behalfe of his Ma[jes]ties father that now is of euer blessed & glorious memory in w[hi]ch service hee was euer faithfull and loyall according to his imploym[en]t, that yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]rs house att the time her husband was imployed in the service afores[ai]d was plundered and all that shee had taken by the Rebellious Partie and since it hath pleased god to take yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]rs said husband who left three small children vpon her handes and noe estate at all to mentaine them, onely her owne Industry & hard labour and shee beinge informed that his Ma[jes]tie that now is hath bin pleased by Act of Parliam[en]t to allow some releife to all such widdowes and Orphanes whose husbandes were euer faithfull & Loyall and haue noe Competent liuelihood of their owne.
Therefore yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r humbly prayes that yo[u]r honours wil bee pleased to take her sad condic[i]on in to yo[u]r Considerac[i]on & to allow her an annuall penc[i]on towardes her releife and the menteinance of her Children
And as in duty bound shee will euer pray &c
