The petition of Sarah Parker of Congleton, Cheshire, Easter 1663

Right worshipfull
The Humble Pettic[i]on of Sarah [illegible] Parker Daughter of John Parker deseased humbly sheweth that you[r] Hono[u]rs said petic[i]one[r’s] father Lost his Life in his Late maiesties Service of ever Blessed memory and was allwayes Faithfull and willing to serve him his said ma[jes]ty but Soe it is that after your said petic[i]oners father was deseased Certaine Souldiers belonging to ye Late vsurped power came vnto his house and Rifled ye same and tooke vp A way their goods and through ye Greife of ye Losse of yo[u]r Hono[ur]s said petic[i]oners mothers husband and ye losse of her Goods caused her to fall into A very sad distemper of Sickenes in ye which she did Longe Continue and had bene in Greate want and necesety but onely that you[r] Hono[urs] s[ai]d petic[i]oners Sarah did Indevour herselfe to maintaine her disconsolate mother allthough it tended to her own pr[e]iudise in soe much that she beinge but A servant hath not Recouered ye same Charges to this pr[e]sent day therefore in Regard your Honou[r]s wisdomes knoweth that his Royall ma[jes]tys pleasure is that there is a pention allotted for allthose that Could Lawfully p[ro]duce Any kind of mamednes sustayned in his ma[jes]tys Behalfe therefore in Regard your Hono[u]rs said petic[i]oners father was slaine in his said late ma[jes]tys service and in ye Regement off Colonell Fitton and Souldier in Captaine Thomas Greenes Company of Congleton may it therefore please your honours wisdomes to take this yo[u]r poore petic[i]oners Condic[i]ons into you[r] serious Considerac[i]ons wherby she may haue sume Redresse ac[c]ording as you[r] wisdomes shall thinke fit and in soe doeing you will euer obleige her to Remaine obleged to pray for your increase of hapynes
