The petition of Samuel Puckering, Cheshire, Epiphany 1655

To the hono[ura]ble Justices in the sessions at Northw[i]ch
The humble petic[i]on of Samuel Puckering:
Sheweth
That yo[u]r pet[itione]r in a very desperat seruice att & for the Garrison at Norton in the County was shott in the Arme, whereby he was sithence made vtterly vseles thereof, besides the great payne he many tymes suffers by occasion thereof and in considerac[i]on thereof yo[u]r wo[rshi]ppe haue bin pleased therefore to allow him a penc[i]on of 40 s. p[er] ann[um] w[hi]ch hath bin paid him,
That yo[u]r pet[itione]r hath a wife also very lame & infirme, & is not able to doe any thinge [illegible] towards the releuing of her selfe or him neither haue they either of them any [illegible] reall or p[er]sonall estate or frends to support or supply them, in so that the said 40 s. p[er] ann[um] will not afford them a lyuelihood nor systeyne the necessetyes of nature.
Yo[u]r pet[itione]r prayes you will comiserat his weake & helples Condic[i]on and will augment his said penc[i]on as to yo[u]r hono[u]rs shall seeme meet
