The petition of Ruth Dawson of Blackley, Lancashire, 29 April 1658

To the Right worshipfull the Justices of peace & Quorum for the hundred of Salford at the Sesions houlden at Manchester this Twentyninth day of aprill this present yeare of our lord god 1658 The humble petic[i]on of Ruth Dawson of Blackeley

Humbly

Sheweth that wheras your poore petic[i]oner[s] husband being a souldier in his highnes [illegible] the lord p[ro]tector Service in Ireland and hath so Continued this Eight or nine yeares who at his going away left your petic[i]on[e]r one younge Childe which is living yett and allso your poore petic[i]on[e]r at that time and since hath dwelled in a house in Blackley which did stand vppon the lande of Mr Leey of Lime where your petic[i]on[e]r was borne and wherein your petic[i]on[e]rs father liued all his life time and now of late your petic[i]on[e]rs house is pulled downe by one Fardenandoe Buresell, John Cullder and James Holland all of Blackley that so now your poore petic[i]on[e]r with her Childe is constrained to lye without vnder the hedges and hath not any habitati{on ?in} the worlde to harbour in but [illegible] is constrained to wander abroade being desolate of a habitation

May it therefore please yo[u]r worships to take into your Charitable Consideration the sad and distressed condic[i]on of your poore pettic[i]on[e]r and to grant such Order as your petic[i]on[e]rs house may be builded againe or another in sum Convenient place vpon the same gent[le]mans land in Blackley and your petic[i]on[e]r as in duty shee is bound sh{all} Ever pray for your Worships health & happines
