The petition of Rowland Owen of Clynnog, Carnarvonshire, 1660

The humble petic[i]on of Rowland Owen
Sheweth
That he served his Ma[jes]ty in the late vnnaturall warre in this Nation for a longe space vnder seu[er]all Comaunders & lastly vnder the Comaund of Capt[ain] Rob[er]t Hookes a gent[leman] of his Countrey before Mountgom[er]y Castle where yo[u]r pet[itione]r receiued seu[er]all wounds & maymed [sic.] that he is not able to yearne his livinge nor scarce able to goe & bege his livinge beinge a Cripple. The s[ai]d Capt[ain] Hookes is since dead in the kings service
Wherefore the p[re]misses considered to May it please yo[u]r wor[shi]ps to graunte yo[u]r pet[itioner] a stipend out of the Maymed souldiors mise in this Com[ityatus] towards his releef And yo[u]r pet[itioner] will eu[er] pray &c
