To the Right Wor[shipfu]ll The Justices of Peace & Quor[um] at the Quarter Sessions of peace houlden at Manchest[e]r the 19th day of Januarie 1653

The humble petic[i]on of Roger Ogden of Manchester

Sheweth vnto yo[u]r good wor[shi]pps That yo[u]r petic[i]oner was pressed for A Souldier for the service of the states in the warrs in Ireland and beinge there in service fell sicke and was benomed of his Limes and grew soe weake That Generall Hosen dismissed him and made him a passe for England and after his Returne back Againe into England hee w[i]th his wife and two small Childrene haue liued and dwelt in the Towne of Manchester in which Towne they did dwell and was were settled before yo[u]r petic[i]oner was pressed for A Souldier by Reason of which sicknesse and benomednesse of his Limbbs which Came by lyinge vpon the open Feilds in Ireland hee is brought into such A Condic[i]on of bodie that for the space of one whole yeare and od Monthes hee hath not beene Able to gett any Relie thinge towards his Mayntenance but haue spent all that hee had in seekeinge to doctors for helpe and in Mayne tenance of himself his wife and two small Childrene and are likelie to bee turned out of that howse wherein they now dwell for want of money to pay the Rent And perishe and Famishe for want of habitac[i]on and Mayntenaunce.

May it therefore please yo[u]r good wor[shi]pps to grant An order whereby the Churchwardens and ouerseers of the poore of the p[ar]ishe of Manchester may bee enioyned to prouide for yo[u]r petic[i]oner his wife and Childrenes Mayntenance and habitac[i]on And yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r will euer pray &c.
