The petition of Roger Ince of Nantwich, Cheshire, Trinity 1662

To the Ho[noura]ble the Justices of the Peace in the Countie Palatine of Chester

The humble Petition of Roger Ince of Namptw[i]ch

<Sheweth>

That yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r went ouer into Ireland vnder the com[m]and of Captaine Sidenham & Regiment of S[i]r Symon Harcourt w[hi]ch Regiment was after vnder the Comand of Colonel Gibson in the service of his Ma[jes]ties Father that now is of ever blessed and glorious memory ag[ains]t the Rebells in Ireland and about the yeare 1643 the said Regiment was comanded into England in w[hi]ch yo[u]r poore Pet[itione]r continued till the Fight at Yorke at w[hi]ch time hee was sadly wounded & taken pr[i]son[e]r to Yorke where hee lay in a sad & languishinge condic[i]on by the space of seauenteene weekes, that yo[u]r poore Pet[itioner] is now very poore & Indigent and neuer deserted the service of Ma[jes]tie [sic.] that now is nor of his blessed & Royall father dureing the late times of rebellion & Vsurpac[i]on but by his Industry hath maintayned himselfe his wife and family [illegible] And since the Returne of his Royall Majesty he hath made his addresse to some of the Justices of the Peace of the County afores[ai]d who vnderstanding his Loyalty and Indigencie, and viewed his woundes were pleased to allow towardes his releife and susten[a]nce the yearely penc[i]on of nineteene shillinges And now yo[u]r poore Pet[itione]r beinge informed that his Ma[jes]tie that now is hath binne pleased of his Royall favour by Act of Parliam[en]t to inlarge the releife of all such souldiers who were euer faythfull & Loyall

Therefore yo[u]r pet[itione]r humbly prayes that yo[u]r hon[ou]rs wil bee please to take his sad and lamentable condic[i]on into yo[u]r pious and serious considerac[i]on and soe to inlarge his Annuall penc[i]on towardes the releife of himselfe and his Indigent Familey as yo[u]r hono[u]rs shall thinke fitt

And as in duty bound hee will ever pray &c
