The petition of Robert Wrigglesworth of Little Thirkleby, North Riding of Yorkshire, 6 October 1691

To the R[igh]t Wor[shi]ppfull their Maiesties Justices of ye peace att the North Riddinge Sessions holden att Thirske ye 6th day of October Anno Dom[ini] 1691
The humble petition of Robert Wrigglesworth of Little Thirkleby within ye said Ridding
Humbly sheweth that your pet[it]ionner is a very old man & lame withal And was a souldier for King Charles the First of blessed memory under the Comand of Captain Tomlinson in Sir Robert Stricklands Regement And was allwayes Faithfull & Loyall & never revolted beinge taken prisoner att Collby Fight And was forced to release himselfe from the said hardship of imprisonment upon his proper Cost & Charge in so much that he is greatly disabled That he cannot Labour for to get himself a Livelyhood without relieved by your worships he knows not how to subsist.
Therefore humbly craveth of your worr[shi]pps for to Comisserate his poore distressed State and Condition: And to afford him some reasonable gratuity: as you in your pious wisdom shall think fit and Covenient.
And your peticoner as in duty bound shall daily pray for your Wor[shi]pps
