The petition of Robert Wrigglesworth of Little Thirkleby, North Riding of Yorkshire, 6 October 1685

To the Right Worshipfull his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace att the North Ridding Sessions holden att Thirske the 6th day of October Anno 1685
The humble Petition of Robertt Wrigglesworth of Little Thirkleby within the said Riddinge
Humbly sheweth yt y[ou]r peti[ti]oner is a very old man and was a souldier For King Charles the First of blessed memory under the Comand of Capta[i]n Thomlinson in S[i]r Robert Stricklands Regement: And was allwayes Faithfull and Loyall never revolting he being taken prissoner att Sellby Fight and was forced to release himselfe upon his ruine proper Cost & Charge: In soe much that he is greatly disabled that he cannot Labour to get himselfe a Livelyhood w[i]thout Releived by yo[u]r wor[shi]pps he knowes not how to subsist.
He therefore humbly Craveth of yo[u]r wor[shi]pps to Comisserate his his [sic.] poore distressed state and Condic[i]on: And afford him some Reasonable gratuity as you in your pious wisdom shall thinke fitt and necessary.
And yo[u]r peti[ti]oner as in duty bound shall daily pray For yo[u]r wor[shi]pps:
