The petition of Robert Ware of Bampton, Devon, 20 February 1667

To the Justices of the Peace att the Generall Sessions holden at the Castle of Exon.
The humble petition of Robert Ware of Bampton in the Countie of Devon.
Humbly sheweth unto yo[u]r Worships, that yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner hath ever bine a Loyall Subject unto his maiestie our now Sov[er]aigne Lord Charles ye Second, and was a Soldier in the S[er]vice of the Late kings ma[jes]tie of happie memory for Sev[er]all years in w[hi]ch service yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner became maimed: as is well knowne to ye Inhabitants of the place where your petic[i]oner now Liveth, And that by reson whereof yo[u]r petic[i]oner hath for some tyme had the pention w[hi]ch his ma[jes]tie hath aloted for such purpose, But now yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner hath not had any of the s[ai]d pention for one whole yeare to ye 25th of March now next ensueinge by reason of w[hi]ch yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner is very much Impoverished and is like to p[er]ish for wante: therefore yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner humbly prayeth yo[u]r worships to take the cause of yo[u]r poore petic[i]on[e]r in to yo[u]r seriouse considerac[i]ons and vouchsafe him such reliefe as yo[u]r worships shall think meett: according to his ma[jes]ties order in that cause, & yo[u]r petic[i]oner shall as dutye obligeth ev[er] pray for yo[u]r worships eternal happinesse.
Wee whose names are subscribed doe certifie yo[u]r worshipps the truthe of the contents above menc[i]oned & desire yo[u]r worships to take ye same in to yo[u]r piouse considerac[i]on, And we shall ev[er] be yo[u]r worships humble servants.
