<The humble Petic[i]on of Robert Tarry shoemaker of Hoddesdon>
To the Right Worship[fu]ll their Ma[jes]ties Justices of the Peace for the County of Hertford &c.
The humble petic[i]on of Robert Tarry &c.
Sheweth.
That yo[u]r Pet[itione]r: haveing spent ye best part of his youth in ye service of his Ma[jes]tie: King Charles ye first (of blessed memory) in Colchester when besieged and other places: is now through great age (being upwards of 66 years old) and many losses and crosses in ye world reduced to a very low Condic[i]on, and ye more (because his Eyesight failing him) he cannot now labour in his Calling, for ye maintenance of his family as formerly.
Which being considered; your Pet[itione]r: humbly prayes your Wor[shi]pps to allow him a yearly pention, towards his farther support in ye Room of Richard Holding late of Broxburne dec[ease]d:
And yo[u]r Pet[itione]r will ever pray &c.
We ye subscribers doe certify [illegible] that we beleive ye Contents of this Petic[i]on to be true.
