To the Right Wor[shi]p[fu]ll his Ma[jes]ties Justices of ye peace at ye private sessions of ye peace holden at Skipton ye 11th day of Decemb[e]r An[n]o D[omi]ni 1673.

The Humble petic[i]on of Captaine Rob[ert]e Rowell of Skipton.

Humbly sheweth:

That in ye Late Civill warr yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r was very constant & Loyall in serveing our Late Kinge and more to manifest the same he bore the title of officer upon all occasions, viz: Hee was Capt[ain] und[e]r Coll[onel] Lampliffe att Hessay moore battaile, Cornett und[e]r Coll[onel] Gray att Edge Hill, Leiueten[an]t of Horse und[e]r Coll[onel] Bradshay att Leeds when Selby was taken & Leiueten[an]t of Foot und[e]r Colonel S[i]r Michaell Woodhouse at Slothhould It pleased God hee was delivered w[i]thout much harme by wounds, yett the bad usage hee had from ye enemy being sev[e]rall tymes taken prison[e]r renders him (now growing into yeares) unfitt for imploying himselfe soe as to maintaine himselfe & family as before soe well as heretofore hee hath done [illegible] being still in a very decent equipage w[i]th his neighbours Hee yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r doth likewise humbly sett forth yt he hath suffered loss to ye value of 195 li. supl[y]ing his Late Ma[jes]ties souldiers dureing ye s[ai]d warr not hee not haveing any way been considered therefore but ye same allowance of 13 s. 4 d. Lately paid him as a maimed souldier.

Now thus it is there is one Samuell Hudson Late of Skipton deceased A penc[i]oner who had Lately allowed 5 s.

It is therefore ye humble desire of yo[u]r s[ai]d petic[i]oner that your wor[shi]pps would soe ord[e]r herein yt ye s[ai]d 5 s. p[er] Q[ua]rt[e]r formerly p[ai]d to Samuell Hudson may be added to his yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]rs penc[i]on & hee in duty bound will ever pray &c.

Apud Skipton 11 Decemb[e]r 1673.

Wee doe beleive this petic[i[on to be true & knowe ye petic[i]on[e]r to bee in a Low Condic[i]on Therefore wee ord[e]r ye fall of his penc[i]on being 5 s. p[er] Q[ua]rt[e]r to bee added to his former penc[i]on And to bee so entered att Pontefract sessions next
