The petition of Robert Richardson, City and County of Chester, Epiphany 1669

To his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace at the Quart[e]r Sessions held in the Castle of Chester.
The Humble pettic[i]on of Robert Richardson of Chester.
<Humbly Sheweth>
That yo[u]r poore pettic[i]on[e]r in the tyme of the late Warrs in this Kingdome was a Soldier in his Late Ma[jes]ties Service both here and in the Irish wars. And was in seu[er]all battells And hath received many shotts and dangerous wounds, And is become very poore Lame and Impotent And in his old age hath little to maintaine him on. And the first place of his takeing vp Armes in the Kings Service was in Malpas in this County vnder the Com[m]and of Col[one]l Ravenscrofte and Capt[ain] Cholmondely And that by reason that your pet[itione]rs officers are all dead and hee can gett no Certificate But yo[u]r pet[itione]r is well knowne to most of your wor[shi]ps vpon this bench to be a true and Loyall Subiect and the pr[e]misses to bee true.
Yo[u]r pet[itione]r humbly prayes hee may bee admitted a penc[i]oner in this County And yo[u]r pet[itione]r as in duty bound shall eu[er] pray &c
