The petition of Robert Render of Raskelf, North Riding of Yorkshire, 6 October 1685

To ye R[igh]t wor[shi]pfull his Ma[jes]ties Justices of ye peace at ye generall q[uar]ter sessions holden at Thirske 6 8bris [October] 1685.
The humble Petition of Rob[er]t Render humbly sheweth.
That your Petic[i]oner was for many yeares together in ye service of K[ing] Charles ye 1st of blessed memory in ye company of Sir Henry Bellasses in his s[ai]d Ma[jes]ties Garrison at Hull & likewise at sev[er]all other places where he rec[eive]d severall wounds by shot and otherwise insomuch (yt now being old) he is now not able to relieve himself & family w[i]thout ye charitable Benevolence & support of good & well disposed Christians, These therefore are humbly to request yo[u]r wor[shi]pfull Bench to take into yo[u]r Considerac[i]on ye poverty & Indigence of ye s[ai]d Rob[er]t Render & to afford him what Competency & allowance as your wor[shi]ps in such a Case shall think meet & yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r as in duty bound shall ever pray &c.
