The petition of Robert Paris, Isle of Ely, 1664

<Ely S[ession]s>
To the wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the peace assimbled at this generall sessions of the Peace holden for the Isle of Ely.
The humble petic[i]on of Robert Paris of Ely aforesaid.
<Humbly sheweth>
That whereas your pet[itione]r being a souldier for his late Ma[jes]tie of ever blessed memory in the late unhappy warrs vnder the Command of the Hono[ura]ble S[i]r William Vaughan Col[one]l As in and by his certificat vnder the hands of some of his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the Peace and others (relac[i]on thereunto had) may and doth plainly appeare. And whereas your pet[itione]r in the said service received divers and sundry wounds with the loss of one of his hands, Whereby your pet[itione]r is utterly disabled from following his vocation as formerly he was able to doe, to his great impouerishm[en]t & dammage.
In tender commiserac[i]on of the pr[e]misses yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r humbly prayeth your worshipps out of yo[u]r wounted Clemency to be graciously pleased to grante your pet[itione]r a Pencion Allotted to Maimed Souldiers.
And your pet[itione]r shall ever pray for yo[u]r wor[shi]pps.
