The petition of Robert Nickalls of Oulton, Cheshire, Easter 1668

To ye right Honourable his Ma[jes]ties Justices of peace for ye County of Chest[e]r:
The humble pet[it]ion of Robert Nickalls of Oultton w[i]thin the County of Chest[e]r & Hundred of Broxton.
Humbly sheweth
That whereas your poore petic[i]on[e]r hath beene a very greate sufferor in these late warrs, & hath faithfully & loyally serued his late Ma[jes]tie of euer blessed memory, as alsoe his Ma[jes]tie that now is by reason wherof your poore petic[i]on[er] is soe lame and impotent that hee can doe noe maner of worke to mantayne himself his wife & six small Children but ye charitable benevolance of his neighbours soe that your pet[it]ioner is like to fall into very great pouerty vnless some speedy remedy be taken
May it there fore please your hon[ou]rs to take your poore pet[it]ion[e]rs condic[i]o[n] in to your Considerac[i]ons And to Admit your s[aid] p[e]ti[ti]on[e]r to receiue a pencion toward ye mantaynance of his s[ai]d wife & Chidlren w[i]thin ye Hundred of Broxton in ye roome of One Thomas Clubb of ye same hundred who hath beene disloyall to his late Ma[jes]tie as it hath appeared vpon oath before too or three of his Ma[jes]ties Justices of peace for ye s[ai]d Hundred
And your peti[ti]on[e]r shall euer pray for y[ou]r hon[ou]rs &c
