The petition of Robert Needham of Prestbury, Cheshire, 8 April 1673

To the Right Hon[ou]r[a]ble the Justices of the Peace at theire Quarter Sessions holden at Middlewich the eight day of Aprill An[n]o Dom[in]I 1673 for this County Pallatine of Chester
The humble Petic[i]on of Robert Needham of Prestbury in the County aforesayde
Sheweth
That yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r was a Souldier for King Charles the first (of never dyeing memorie) and was maymed in his right hand by a shott which hee then receiued and haueing now in his ould age many distemp[er]s and Informities fallen vpon him by reason of his service in that warr, cannot expose himselfe to labour as otherwayes hee might haue done for getting of a liuelyhoode to maintaine himselfe and haveing but little of his owne to subsist vpon will inevitably come to great want in his ould age, except hee be relieved in some way which may bee conducible to his present necessitie
Humbly prayes this Hon[ou]r[a]ble Bench (the premises piously considered) to admitt yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r One of his Maiesties Pensioners, and as in duty Bound hee will ever pray &c
That this Petitioner was actually in his ma[jes]ties service as abovesaid, & never turn’d his Coate Is knowne to be true
