The petition of Robert Mowson, Westmorland, 21 January 1646

To the Wor[shipfu]ll the standing Com[m]ittee for the County of Westm[o]rland.
The humble Petic[i]on of Rob[er]t Mowson one of Capt[ain] Johnsons troope.
<Sheweth>
That yo[u]r pet[itione]r being pursued by the enemy at Sherburne escaped and gott away, but being soe plunged and brused thereby he imediatly fell sicke, and Continued soe for the space of a moneth, to his very greate Charge. And forasmuch as yo[u]r pet[itione]r lost in seruice ag[ains]t Skipton two horses of his owne worth [illegible] ix li.; and for that he as hath now areare vnto him for his pay, for the tyme & space of Foureteene weekes.
He humblely prayeth that yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps would be pleased to Order the s[ai]d arreares to be p[ai]d vnto him as allsoe to grant him some satisfaction for the loss of his said horses in the seruice afores[ai]d,
And yo[u]r pet[itione]r &c.
Kendall 21o Jan[uary] 1645.
Ordered that the tre[asure]r pay to Rob[er]t Mowson the pet[itione]r iii li. and viii d. in full satisfaction of all his arreares of pay due till this day.
