The petition of Robert Mainwaring of Shavington-cum-Gresty, Cheshire, Trinity 1662

To the Ho[noura]ble the Justices of the Peace in the County Palatine of Chester
The humble Petic[i]on of Robert Mainwaringe of Shavington
<Sheweth>
That yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r at the beginninge of the late warrs was drummer to Captaine Richard Greene afterwardes he was a private souldier in the troope of Richard Walthall Esq[ui]r[e] Captaine in the Regiment of Colonel John Marrow in the service of his Ma[jes]ties father that now is of euer blessed memory in w[hi]ch service hee was euer faithfull & Loyall and receiued woundes therin w[hi]ch did much disinabled his body and since his Ma[jes]ties happy returne yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r made his address to some of the Justic[e]s of the peace of the County afores[ai]d who considering his Loyaltie and his Indigent condic[i]on were pleased to order nineteene shillinges p[er] ann[um] but now yo[u]r poore pet[itioner] being informed that his Ma[jes]tie of his Royall favour and goodnesse, hath binne pleased by Act of Parliam[en]t to inlarge the releife of all such souldiers who were faithfull and neuer deserted his Ma[jea]ties nor his royall father service in the late times of Rebellion & vsurpac[i]on
Therefore yo[u]r poore Pet[itioner] humbly prayes that yo[u]r hono[u]rs wil bee pleased to take his sad condic[i]on into yo[u]r serious considerac[i]on and to inlarge his Annuall penc[i]on accordinge to his Loyalty as yo[u]r hon[ou]rs shall thinke fit
And as in duty bound hee will euer pray &c
