The petition of Robert Hughes of Broxton Hundred, Cheshire, Michaelmas 1660

To the Right Hon[ou]r[a]ble his m[ajes]t[y]s Justices of the Peace for the County of Chester
The Humble petic[i]on of Robert Hughes of Broxton hundred In the said County.
The pet[itione]r serveinge vnder the Right Hon[ou]r[a]ble John Lord Byron, In Cheshire Wales at Yorke Lancashire and other places vpon his M[ajes]t[y]s service, Vpon the second day of July 1644 att the battle neere Yorke, yo[u]r pet[itione]r with a pole axe was maymed of his left arme and shott thorow his right Legge, besides severall wounds in his head, and was a prison[e]r in Yorke Eighteene weekes, so that he hath been disabled to gett reliefe for himself his wife & Children
The pr[e]misses Considered The Pet[itione]r humbly desires he may be admitted a penc[i]on[e]r to receiue such quarterly pay as is granted to Maymed souldiers, as yo[u]r Hon[ou]rs shall thinke expedient for his reliefe which granted yo[u]r pet[itione]r as in duty bound shall ever pray &c
