The petition of Robert Greene, Thomas Hampton, John Carter, Randall Perrin, Thomas Bloore, Thomas Lovekin, John Beckett, and Roberte Adams, all of Wybunbury, Cheshire, Michaelmas 1651

To the Right Wor[sh]ip[fu]ll the Justices of Peace at this p[re]sent Sessions Assembled

The humble petic[i]on of Robert Greene Thomas Dauenport Hampton John Carter Randall Perrin Thomas Bloore Thomas Louekin John Beckett & Rob[er]te Adams Souldiers of the Militia for the Towneshipp of Wibunbury

<Sheweth>

That whereas yo[u]r poore Petic[i]on[e]rs haueing most of them little else to subsist on [illegible], or to releiue and mayntayne themselues w[i]thall but what by their hard labo[u]r and industrious paynes they dearly buy and seeing that before the late Expedition yo[u]r poore petic[i]on[e]rs were no[m]i[n]ated and returned by the Inhabitants and Constables of Wibumbury to bee inlisted in the Regim[en]t of Col[one]l Croxton and to serue for the s[ai]d Towne and therevpon yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]rs were Constrained to goe (though otherwise willing to serue the Parl[ia]m[en]t if their estates were any way Chargeable to find or Contribute therevnto on referrence to others that were legally Chargeable and stayed at home, yet to encourage yo[u]r petit[i]on[e]rs their Comand[e]r did p[ro]mise them advance Money in their roomes Neu[er]theles yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]rs since their returne home haue not receiued any Advance

May it therefore please yo[u]r wor[sh]ipps to make such order that those that p[ar]ticipate and are sharers of the benefitt of their hazardous Travells & paynes & stay[e]d at home and are legally Chargeable to finde & Mayntayne Souldiers by the late Acte may pay such Considerable summe of Money to yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]rs by way of Advance as to yo[u]r wor[sh]ips shall seeme meete
