The petition of Robert Chapple of Bradninch, Devon, 1685

To the Right Worshipfull his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the Peace of the County of Devon.

The Humble Petition of Robert Chapple of Bradninch in the County aforesaid. Humbly

<Most humbly> sheweth

That yo[u]r Poore Petition[e]r hath been a Souldier for his sacred Ma[jes]tie King Charles the first of ever blessed memory under the command of one Capt[ain] Arscot against the Towne of Plymouth & also under the Command of Captaine Markes in the Regim[en]t of Collonell Courtenay, in w[hi]ch service yo[u]r poore Petitioner received severall wounds by Musquet & sword w[hi]ch hath so disabled him from getting his maintenance that he hath not been able to p[er]forme a daies worke for seven yeares past.

Your Poore Petition[er] therefore in all humble manner implores yo[u]r worships wonted favo[u]r & goodnesse in conferring a Pension on him as yo[u]r wor[shi]pps shall thinke fit & as in duty bound yo[u]r poore Petition[e]r shall ever pray &c:

Wee doe believe the content of this Petic[i]on to bee true & that he deserves a Pension
