The petition of Robert Bradshaw of Hammersmith, Middlesex, May 1660

To ye Kings most excellent Majesty.
The humble Petic[i]on of Capt[ain] Rob[er]t Bradshaw of Hamersmith in the County of Middl[e]s[ex].
Most humbly sheweth.
That your pet[itione]r in pursuance of his bounden duty to yo[u]r most sacred Ma[jes]ty and your royall Father of ever glorious memory, hath allwayes retayned his loyaltie without the least tincture of blemish or defection, even in the worst, & to the last of times: for w[hi]ch your pet[itione]r with the rest of your Ma[jes]ties faithfull Subjects, besides losse of his Limbes and much blood, hath bine sorely persecuted & distressed Soe as your pet[itione]r hath bine enforced for these six yeares last past to take upon him for gayning an honest Livelyhood, a calling which hee was not bredd upp in, vizt of brewing.
Your Pet[itione]r for the enabling him to doe your Ma[jes]tie the better service, most humbly prayeth your Ma[jes]tie, to vouchsafe him the grace of being Brewer unto your Ma[jes]ties houshold.
And yo[u]r Pet[itione]r shall ever pray for yo[u]r Ma[jes]tie.
