The petition of Richard Wilkinson of Chipping, Lancashire, Epiphany 1662

To ye wor[shipfu]ll ye Justices of Peace & Quor[um] for ye Hundreds of Blackborne & Amound[er]nes
The Humble Petic[i]on of Richard Wilkinson an aged & impotent p[er]son
Sheweth
That yo[u]r pet[itione]r beinge borne in Chippinge yo[u]r pet[itione]r (w[i]th his father) beinge twelve yeares of age left this County & went into Staffordshire & in theese late times of warrs yo[u]r pet[itione]r tooke armes for his late Ma[jes]tie whoe rece[ive]d seu[e]rall wounds & Shotts in ye said service & about a yeare & a halfe since retorned into his native Country & since hath beene as a serv[an]t at ye howse of one Richard Richard Reeder in Cockerham about a yeare & since yo[u]r pet[itione]r hath beene forced to seeke releife in Chippinge & other adiacent places
May it therefore please yo[u]r wor[shi]pps yo[u]r pet[itione]r beinge of the Age of sixty five yeares & by reason of his wounds & ould age noe waies able to Releive himself to grant yo[u]r order yt ye Churchwardens & ou[er]seers of ye ord Poore w[i]thin Cockerham or Chipping may give such releife vnto yo[u]r pet[itione]r as yo[u]r wor[shi]pp shall thinke fitt & yo[u]r Pet[itione]r shall dayly pray &c
