The petition of Richard Thomason of Tattenhall, Cheshire, Epiphany 1674

To the right worshipfull the Justices of peace for the County of Chester
The humble petic[i]on of Richard Thomason of Tattenhall in the County of Chester laborer
Sheweth
That yo[u]r poore petic[i]o[n]er was a faythfull souldier in his late ma[jes]tyes warres neuer adhereing to the adverse p[ar]ty vnder the com[m]and of S[i]r Edward Fitton And that hee was at Edgehill Brandford and seu[er]all other fights where yo[u]r petic[i]o[n]er receaued seu[er]all wounds w[hi]ch together w[i]th old age haue brought yo[u]r petic[i]o[n]er soe weake that hee is alltogether vnfit for labour and soe brought to great penury and want haueing to his greater misery a lame wyfe lyeing on his hands who is not able to stir further then shee is helped.
The pr[e]misses considered yo[u]r petic[i]o[n]er humbly prayeth hee may bee admitted a pentioner w[i]thin the hundred of Broxon or elswhere in the next place that shall fall voyde and hee as in all duety bound will euer pray &c
Wee whose names are hervnto subscribed inhabitants of the p[ar]ish of Tattenhall and the adiacent Townes doe humbly certify the truth of this petition and desire the petic[i]o[n]ers admittance as is desired
