The petition of Richard Thomason of Tattenhall, Cheshire, 15 April 1672

To the right wor[shi]pp[fu]ll the Justices of peace for the County of Chester.
The humble petic[i]on of Richard Thomason of Tattenhall
Sheweth
That yo[u]r poore petic[i]o[n]er was a foote souldier in his late Ma[jes]ties warrs vnder the comand of S[i]r Edward Fitton in his owne company for the space of three yeares and more in w[hi]ch s[ai]d service yo[u]r petic[i]o[n]er receaued many scars and woundes both at Edge hill, Banbery, Bradford at Redding seige and su[er]all other places, by reason whereof and of yo[u]r petic[i]o[n]ers great age hee is now growne altogether vnable to worke ether to releiue himselfe or wyfe beeing both aged aboue three score yeares
The p[re]misses considered yo[u]r petic[i]o[n]er humbly prayes to bee admitted one of his Ma[jes]ties pentioners w[i]thin the hundred of Broxon where hee liues And the rather for that yo[u]r petic[i]o[n]er neuer adhered to the aduerse p[ar]ty but was euer faythfull to his Ma[jes]tie. And hee as in all duety bound will euer pray &c
Aprill ye 15th 1672
Wee whose names are Subscribed his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace in ye Hundred of Broxon doe certify that the Peti[ti]on[e]r is and hath beene a true and Loyall Subject, and that wee looke upon him to bee a fit person to bee admitted a Pension[e]r w[i]thin the s[ai]d Hundred upon ye next Vacancy that happens yt is not aready engaged to by Order Witnesse our hands ye day & yeare aboue written
